Danish Music Export

a commerce ?

Friday  15:30  Stage A

The Danish music-industry is experiencing explosive, international development and is expanding into new markets. The success of the pop group AQUA is one of the events to inspire a new way of thinking and a broadening of visions.

Considering this development, it’s important to unite the Danish music-industry in order to exploit the possibilities and point out the demands that arise from this. As a competitive export commodity, music has so far been a somewhat unrecognised resource to anyone outside the privately run music-industry. The newly established broad-political Music Export Council is highlighting the need for a heightened business-awareness from the combined music and culture industry, as well as a political understanding of the need for subsidisation of the industry.

At this panel discussion, the Music Export Council will present it report on the 1997 Danish export statistics. The council will also give an account of its endeavours and present its future plan of action.
